COMPETITION HELD IN CHINA 2005

INTERNATIONAL WUSHU (KUNGFU - TAICHI) ACADEMY WINS 14 GOLD, 4 SILVER AND 4TH PLACE IN CHINA INTERNATIONAL KUNG FU/TAI CHI TOURNAMENT

The International Southern Shaolin Wushu Academy is recognised as one of Australia's leading Kung fu school with its students winning many Australian titles over the past several years. Trained by Internationally renowned instructor Master Chen You Nan; the school has now gone on to achieve international success with 9 of the school's senior students competing at the Zhejiang International Traditional Wushu (Kung fu) Tournament in Hangzhuo, China.

The tournament was held on July 30 & 3 lat the Dragon Sports Center which attracted 12 countries, 184 schools, 2625 competitors from 5 years old to veterans over 75 years old. The team which represented Australia competed in 19 different
events ranging from Tai Chi to Wushu hand and weapon forms where they won an amazing 14 gold, 4 silver and a 4^th place
(the best result based on competitor/medal ratio). The school also won the Qingchungboa Cup based on their supreme effort
during the competition.

The International Southern Shaolin Wushu Academy has been located at Runcorn since 1 998 and has been performing
numerous Chinese Lion Dances and Kung fu demonstrations throughout Southeast Queensland. Master Chen is 5^th Generation
Tiger/Crane Master and a Traditional Chinese Medical Practitioner. Master Chen and 2 Senior Instructors gained their
International and National Judging qualifications in May this year which was held in Melbourne. The school is recognised as
producing amazing martial artists who have gone onto train people throughout the world and star alongside such superstars as
JackieChan.

Welcome To The Woodford Folk

The Woodford Folk Festival is an event of international standing. Held over six days and six nights it presents more than 2000 performers and 400 events with concerts, dances, workshops, forums, street theatre, writers' panels, film festival, comedy sessions, acoustic jams, social dialogue and debate, an entire children's festival, art and craft workshops, late night cabarets and special events including a spectacular fire event. The Festival features the cream of Australian performers and a generous gathering of special international guests.

Bruce Yang

Dedicated to the preservation, teaching and performance of taijiquan (tai chi). Born in Taiwan, Bruce has lived and worked in Brisbane since 1975, having studied Zhengzi Taiji, Wu style tai chi, Chen style tai chi and traditional Yang style tai chi as well as New China, from various famous masters. He teaches at the Taoist temple at Deagon. His assistants Pam Ester and David and Rex will be giving a Tai Chi Fan and Sword demostration .
